How is Boy Scouts different than Cub Scouts?

There are several differences between the Cub Scout program and the Boy Scout program.  Some of the biggest and most important changes are listed below.  Parents of scouts crossing over into Troop 1 should be familiar with and understand these changes.  If you have questions, the Scoutmaster can help.

Parents sign off advancement requirements
Advancement done at den meetings and home
Scout directed; self paced
Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster sign off (must show some level of mastery)
Advancement skills learned mostly on camp outs

Meetings
Dens meet 2 times monthly
Packs meet 1 time a month
Troop meets weekly
Quarterly Courts of Honor
Organized by
Dens,  based on grades
Patrols, may be based on age, rank or mixed
Awards and Ranks
Awarded at monthly Pack meetings or annual Blue and Gold dinners
Awarded at quarterly Courts of Honor
Camping
Infrequently
Parent or guardian must attend
4 day/3 night resident or Arrow of Light Camp
