Whew, springtime is coming and we are getting busy.  We will have opportunities for community service coming up that aren't quite finalized so stay tuned as well as at least one event this summer for our scouts to participate in community activities. 
A few of our Scouts will be having extra Scouting fun this summer, Greg W., and Tyler M., have been asked to staff NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) this summer and Billy and Karl B., will be attending the National Jamboree at The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
For our Scouts attending summer camp we expect to see the merit badge list soon, we will let everyone know as soon as we hear anything.

Thanks to Mr. Bonga for an informative meeting last night at the Kayderosseras Fish and Game Club.  The scouts learned about firearm safety from someone who knows what they are doing.  Mr. Bonga brought in several of his own firearms, showed the scouts how each of them works and allowed the scouts to handle them, safely.  There was no live ammunition, as Mr Bonga reloads his own, but he brought several types of casings and talked about how each type is loaded and how it works.  Great meeting and very educational.

• For those of you who are camping this weekend there is no need to meet at the church.  Everyone should plan to meet at Horsley Hall at Boyhaven between 6:30-7:00.  Don't forget your permission slips.
  
• Don't forget that Monday's troop meeting will be at the Fish and Game Club on Geyser Rd at 7:00.  Gun safety will be the topic of the evening.  Special thank you to Mr. Bonga for making this special  meeting possible.

You may have noticed that we are adding more information to this site.  We are trying hard to answer questions and to have a place for information.  We are currently working on pages for camping, advancement and how the troop works.  If there is anything that you would like to see on the site please let me know and I will see what we can do.

Just a note that the apparel order forms that went out last week had incorrect pricing information.  The email had the correct prices but the order form did not.  A new order form was emailed to everyone today with the new prices.  If you didn't get one please let me know.  Crossovers will need to purchase a baseball cap and atleast 1 T shirt.

I have updated the website with information about the troop uniform policy as well as important instructions for filling out the annual medical forms.  This is especially important for anyone going to summer camp, but any troop campout or activity requires parts A and B from everyone in attendance.

I am working on updating the website with information about how our troop runs, as it is different than the way a cub scout pack runs.  There are important changes that new parent's especially, should be aware of. 

The troop committee meeting is Tuesday 3/21 at 7pm.  We meet in one of the classrooms off the fellowship room (where we meet for troop meetings).  We are needing volunteers for a couple of positions.  The committee has more "behind the scene" positions, so if you want to be involved but don't want to be right out in front, this may be the perfect place for you to help out.
